Volunteers from across the City of Rockingham were formally recognised for their outstanding contribution to the community during the City of Rockingham’s Volunteer Recognition Celebration on Thursday 23 May 2019.

More than 50 volunteers from a range of not-for-profit organisations, sporting clubs and community groups were acknowledged for their incredible work during the celebration at the Gary Holland Community Centre.

The Volunteer Recognition Celebration was held to honour the crucial work volunteers do, with local organisations requested to nominate one volunteer from their organisation.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels congratulated the volunteers involved for their terrific achievements. “Volunteers are one of the most important resources that our City has and their generosity contributes towards creating a strong community,” Mayor Sammels said.

“The City is truly grateful for their hard work and determination. The commitment they have all shown to their respective clubs, groups and organisations is fantastic and we are a richer community thanks to their inspiring efforts.”

The City’s Volunteer Recognition Celebration was held during Volunteering Australia’s 30th annual National Volunteer Week. The theme for National Volunteer Week 2019 is ‘Making a World of Difference’ and the City recognises the hard work and dedication all volunteers show in helping the community.

The City also thanks Volunteering WA for supporting National Volunteer Week activities.
