Submissions for the City of Rockingham’s first ever Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition, which will coincide with the 2019 Castaways Sculpture Awards, are now open to the community.
The Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition will be displayed at the Rockingham Arts Centre from 26 October – 3 November 2019. The event will celebrate the beauty and intricacy of small scale, three dimensional artworks that are created with recycled and repurposed materials.
A $2,500 Warnbro Centre Maquette and Small Sculpture Award will be presented to one artist who demonstrates excellence in the creation of a small sculpture and whose work creatively uses recycled components.
Mayor Barry Sammels said the exhibition represented an exciting first for arts and culture in the City of Rockingham.
“The City is delighted to be hosting a Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition for the first time ever, which will be held simultaneously with the acclaimed Castaways Sculpture Awards Exhibition,” Mayor Sammels said.
“Entries for the exhibition are open to both emerging and professional artists from across Western Australia, so I encourage local artists to make a submission.”
Artists can enter pieces into both the Castaways Sculpture Awards Exhibition and the Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition, provided they adhere to the separate terms and conditions.
The Maquette and Small Sculpture Exhibition will run from Saturday 26 October – Sunday 3 November 2019, from 9am – 5pm daily at the Rockingham Arts Centre.
