It’s been a wet and wild weekend again, I hope you’ve all made it through unscathed

There are 5 things on the website open for public consultation this week. Nothing new that wasn’t there last week, but the deadlines are looming for a couple.

Proposed Change in Parking Restrictions Warnbro – Submissions close tomorrow
Draft Verge Development Policy – Submissions close this Thursday
Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan is still open, the first info session was held last week, the second is being held in Safety Bay tomorrow.

As always, happy to answer any questions, or have a chat about any of these, or anything else that may be of concern to you. Available via all the usual channels. Facebook, email or give me a call.

1. Proposed Change in Parking Restrictions Warnbro

You are invited to provide feedback on the proposed change in parking restrictions outside the Koorana Primary School located on Coronata Drive Warnbro. This proposed change in restriction would affect two parking stalls directly outside the main entrance to the school administration office the parking stalls are currently unrestricted. This proposal has come about to provide a fast and convenient pick-up and drop-off point parking solution to the greater community. The proposed change would result in two parking stalls changing from the current unrestricted parking to 15-minute parking between 8am–3pm Monday to Friday (inclusive). Before 8am and after 3pm the parking will remain unrestricted. Weekends would not be affected by the proposed change in restriction at all.

Submissions close Tuesday 25th June.

2. Draft Verge Development Policy

The City is proposing a revision of acceptable materials for verge development across the City. The City are also seeking to implement a transitional arrangement for verge treatments that are currently non-compliant.

Submissions close Thursday 27th June.

3. Amendment No.176 to Town Planning Scheme No.2

At its ordinary meeting held on 26 March 2019, Council resolved to adopt (initiate) Amendment No.176 to Town Planning Scheme No.2 for the purposes of modifying land permissibility, minor changes in R Coding and to correct administrative errors.

A document setting out and explaining the scheme amendment is available on the City’s website.

Submissions close Friday 19th July.

4. Proposed Dogs and Parking Amendment Local Law 2019

Under the powers conferred by the Local Government Act 1995 and Dog Act 1976 it is proposed to make the City of Rockingham Dogs and Parking Amendment Local Law 2019.

The purpose of the amendment is to enable the City to manage and control dogs and parking and to correct clause numbering and formatting errors in the City of Rockingham Dogs Local Law 2000 and amendments to the City of Rockingham Parking Local Law 2018 in accordance with the request from the Joint Standing Committee on Delegated Legislation.

This will make the City of Rockingham Dogs Local Law 2000 and the City of Rockingham Parking Local Law 2018 are amended, clearer and consistent.

The proposed local law may be inspected at the City of Rockingham Administration Building and libraries during normal office hours or is available on the City’s website.

Submissions close Friday 2nd August.

5. Draft Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan

The City is currently in the process of preparing a Coastal Hazard Risk Management and Adaptation Plan (CHRMAP). The CHRMAP is a strategic planning document that informs community and decision makers about potential coastal hazards (such as erosion and inundation), the risks and necessary actions. The CHRMAP will outline key directions for coastal adaption over a 100 year planning timeframe, while also prioritising management responses over the next 10 years.

This has, in my opinion, the potential to be the biggest issue any coastal Local Government will face in the next 100 years. So I highly recommend that you try to make yourself available to attend one of the following information sessions.

Safety Bay Library 25th June 2pm-6pm
Mary Davies Library and Community Centre 2nd July 3pm-7pm

Submissions close Thursday 6th August.
