As part of the City of Rockingham’s Summer Series of free, family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free events, residents are invited to join the City in celebrating the New Year with family and friends at Churchill Park on Monday 31 December 2018.
The City’s annual New Year’s Eve Celebration starts from 5pm and will include live entertainment, free children’s activities and a selection of food vendors.
LIVE WIRE, Hit Factory, Abbasalutely and a range of local talent will keep crowds entertained throughout the evening, with spectacular fireworks displays at 9pm and midnight capping off festivities.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels encouraged residents to join in the celebrations on New Year’s Eve.
“The City’s New Year’s Eve celebrations at the Rockingham Beach Foreshore are always a fantastic event that attracts a great crowd,” Mayor Sammels said.
“In recent years more than 20,000 people have attended the celebrations, which offer a great night out for everyone in a family-friendly, smoke-free and alcohol-free environment.
“It’s a terrific opportunity to come together and reflect on the year’s memorable moments and remember how fortunate we are to be living in such a beautiful region, with award-winning beaches, an easy lifestyle, community events, excellent education, sports and recreational facilities.”
Additional parking for the event will be available at the Village Green and Dixon Road Reserve. The City has also arranged for Transperth to provide extended services for bus route 555 between the Rockingham Train Station and Rockingham Beach, to get spectators to and from the foreshore.
For the New Year’s Eve Celebration, bus route 555 will be operating on an 8 minute frequency between 4pm–6pm and will be extended until 1am, operating on a 15 minute frequency from 9pm.
The City also gratefully acknowledges support from event sponsors Lotterywest, Media Engine, Weekend Courier, AHG Rockingham, Rockingham Mazda and Total Kooling Solutions.
