I spent some time with Max and Jane of the Citizens Advice Bureau Rockingham Branch this morning.
Volunteers run the office and they do amazing work. They provide information and referrals to a wide range of services.
Many of the visitors to the centre are looking for advice on legal matters such as how to make a will, granting power of attorney, divorce, child support or, probate.
They also provide support and information for people dealing with consumer protection or employment issues.
The centre provides professionally qualified mediators for those dealing with Family or Child Custody issue.
For those who are struggling financially, they can help you apply for a No-Interest Loan from The WA No Interest Loans Scheme (WA NILS). The WA No Interest Loans Scheme was created in 1999 in response to the difficulties faced by low income households in obtaining affordable credit in order to purchase essential household items and services. “Low Income” is defined as anyone who holds a Centrelink Health Care Card, Pension Card or Veterans Affairs Card.
And if all that wasn’t enough, the branch coordinator is a qualified Tax Agent and provides tax advice between July and October each year.
They’re always on the lookout for people who’d like to volunteer their time.
The Rockingham Branch of the Citizens Advice Bureau is located at 14, Council Ave, Rockingham. They’re open Monday to Thursday 9.30am to 3.30pm and on Friday 9.30am to 1.00pm. Drop in and say hello, or give them a call on 9527 6671
