Lovers of art and culture will be able to enjoy the wide range of stunning submissions made in the 2019 City of Rockingham Art Awards during two free Twilight Events during May.
On both Wednesday 8 and 15 May, curator of the 2019 Art Awards Jude van der Merwe, will lead guided tours of the exhibition, providing visitors with detailed insight into the wining artworks. Each week one of the judges, either Dr Ric Spencer or Ms Jo Darbyshire, will also be present.
The Twilight Events start at the Rockingham Arts Centre from 5.30pm, with tours running from 6pm–7pm. During the tours visitors will be able to also enjoy live music and light refreshments.
City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the Twilight Events were open to anybody interested in learning more about some of the fantastic work submitted in the 2019 Art Awards.
“The Art Awards showcase the unique heritage, cultural and historical aspects of the City all within the 2019 theme of Space,” Mayor Sammels said.
“No RSVP’s are necessary for the Twilight Events, residents can simply attend on the day and receive a detailed tour of the exhibition’s finest artworks from our talented and experienced curator, Jude van der Merwe.”
The City received nearly 200 entries in this year’s awards, with 89 selected for exhibition at the Rockingham Arts Centre and the Gary Holland Community Centre.
